Are you ready to unleash your creativity and innovation? Aravinda High School, in collaboration with The STEM Makers, Vijayawada, is organizing an Engineering Design Challenge Competition on 19th September 2025. This unique competition is designed exclusively for school students, giving them a platform to apply their knowledge, creativity, and problem solving skills in real-world engineering tasks.
The Engineering Design Challenge Competition brings together school students from different interested schools to work on a design and construction project, which is then evaluated against pre-specified parameters. The students work in teams with college students as mentors, to design, build and test an engineering project. Mentors act as a sounding board for students to help them think through their methods. The aim is to create awareness among students interested to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math(STEM). Beyond the competition, kids leave with new connections and friends with their peers and mentors.
What’s the Competition About?
The challenge is split into two exciting segments:
- Morning Session: Teams will design and build their projects according to given specifications.
- Afternoon Session: Teams will test their creations—boats and towers—against real conditions.
This ensures students not only focus on design but also understand performance and functionality.
Categories and Challenges
2nd – 5th Class: Build a boat capable of carrying 50 grams of weight across 2 feet.
6th – 9th Class: Construct the tallest tower with a base not larger than 1 ft x 1 ft, stable enough to with stand a simulated earthquake.
Exciting Cash Prizes
Students have the chance to win recognition and attractive cash rewards:
- 1st Prize: ₹2000
- 2nd Prize: ₹1000
- 3rd & 4th Prize: ₹500 each
- Innovative Design Award: ₹1000
